74 practical ways to build relationships with students response

When reading this blog, "72 PI felt like I had learn some very interesting and new strategies to use within my classroom. These are pretty straight forward and in depth.

Which strategies speak to you? Why? A.) The shaking hands at the door, smiling and calling the student by name always speaks to me. It's something I do each day I walk into my Student Teaching classroom. I love this one because it makes the students feel welcomed and loved. It makes them feel like they matter and the classroom can be a second home for them.

Which have you seen in action? What is your reaction to them? A.)I have seen the handshaking and calling by name in a lot of classes I've been in. my reaction is that I feel its very successful in the classroom, and makes a difference compared to teachers who don't bother to even learn students names.

Is there anything you would add to the list? A.) Honestly, I feel like this list has it all. 72 ways is in impressive number, maybe later on I can add, but right now I feel the list is very in depth and provides a lot of strategies that can be seen as useful.

What are your thoughts about the importance of relationships as they relate to the classroom? A.) Relationships are important for several reasons, the main one being it creates a community. It also allows there to be a safe, place for students who may not have that at home. A place where they don't feel judgement, but rather feel like they can express themselves freely. It also allows for a classroom to run more smoothly, since one can understand what a student maybe going through or how they can correct that behavior together as a team. Lastly it shows that everyone is a team and not on their own when they walk into the class.
